Open different profiles directly from desktop shortcuts
Create as many shortcuts to Firefox.exe as many profiles you have
Right click on a shortcut and select properties
In the Shortcut to Firefox Properties window, in the Target: field add the following text after the closing after the closing double qoutations
-p "YourChoosenProfileName"

How to find the default profile folder
Windows
Open Windows Explorer
Click on C:
Open Tools > Folder Options
Click on the View tab
In the Advanced Settings: field select the option Files and Folder > Hidden
files and folders > Show hidden files and folders (
)
Click OK
On Windows XP/2000 the path is usually C:\Documents and Settings\[User Name]\Application Data\Mozilla\Firefox\Profiles\
On Windows 95/98/Me, the path is usually C:\WINDOWS\Application Data\Mozilla\Firefox\Profiles\
Linux
The path is usually ~/.mozilla/firefox/
Mac OS X
On Mac OS X, the path is usually ~/Library/Application Support/Firefox/Profiles/
Backing Up
Close all Mozilla products
To save your settings back up the profiles folder if you are reinstalling your OS or Firefox.

Getting Firefox to open multiple sites/pages on startup.
Open Tools > Options.
Enter the urls in the Location(s): box. Just Seperate each url by | (Shift + \).
Press Ok.
If you have started Firefox after going online and the pages are not loading, then open File > Work Offline, this will bring you in the online mode.
If you place | before the first url then on startup Firefox will open an additional empty tab with all the start pages

Adding a folder to your bookmarks
Open Bookmarks > Manage Bookmarks
In the Bookmarks folder
Click on the Bookmarks folder in the right pane ()
or click the subfolder above which you want your new folder to appear.
Press the New Folder ()
button
In the Properties for "New Folder" window enter the name of the folder.
Press OK
In the Subfolders
Click on the desired subfolder
In the left pane click on the bookmark above which you want the new folder to appear
Press the New Folder ()
button
In the Properties for "New Folder" window enter the name of the folder.
Press OK
Drop down list on a Bookmarks Toolbar
Creating folders with bookmarks inside the bookmarks toolbar folder gives you a drop down list of your bookmarks from Bookmarks Toolbar

Adding more functions (Extensions)
Open Tools > Extensions
In Extension window click Get More Extenstions. Extension page at addons.mozilla.org will open in the browser.

Allowing popups for certain sites
Open Tools > Options
Click on Web Features (

Click the Allowed Sites button on the right of Block Popup Windows
Enter URL in the Adress of the web site: field
Click Allow

Left click on this message bar gives for three options

Bookmark more than one tab as one folder
Open the pages in tabs in one window.
Open Bookmarks > Bookmark This Page... (Ctrl + D)
In the name: field type the a desired name for the folder that will contain all these bookmarks.
From the Create in: drop down menu select the folder to save this folder in
Check Bookmark all tabs in a folder
Click OK

Bookmarks and History Sidebars
Open View > Sidebar
Select
Bookmarks(Ctrl + B) or
History(Ctrl + H)
A sidebar on the left will appear.
In the Search feild you can enter a keyword and Firefox will search through the contents of the sidebar.
Click or Ctrl + H(History)
or Ctrl + B(Bookmarks) to close.

Press Ctrl + K

Type the name of the site in the address bar
Press Ctrl + Enter to add http://www. and .com

In the Filter: field type image
Press Enter
Click on image.animation_mode in the Preference name column
In the Value column double click on normal to change it
In the Enter string value window, type,
None, it will stop all animations
Once, images will animate once
Normal, images will animate normally

Copying files in a page that are not saved with File > Save As function
(Or you can use the Scarpbook Extension (more easier))
For example Flash files
Open the page from which you want to save a .swf file (flash)
Right click anywhere on the page
Select View Page Source or press Ctrl + U
Open Edit > Find or press Ctrl + F
At the bottom of View-source window enter the text '.swf '
Press Enter
There might be more than one file with .swf extension
Remember the name before the .swf extoinsion
In the Firefox window open Tools > Page Info
In the Page Info window click on the Media tab
Find your flash file and click Save As.. button

Open Tools ( Alt + T ) > Downloads
Downloads window will show all the downloads.
Click Open or Remove hyperlinks to open the downloaded file(if you have downloaded any) on the left.
In the Download Manager click the folder icon (
)
at the bottom to open your download folder.
Click the Clean Up Button (
) to clean all the downloads from the download manager list.
Downloads wount be removed from your computer.

Copy the following link
chrome://mozapps/content/downloads/downloads.xul
Paste it in the address bar
Press Enter
Press Ctrl + D
Give this bookmark a name
Click OK

Clicking the Left mouse button while the Ctrl key is pressed will select the part of the page under the mouse pointer
Press Ctrl + C to copy it to clipboard
To copy large amount of text but not the whole page
Left click at the begining of the text that you want to copy

Download manager during surfing
During surfing click on a hyperlink ( for bigger files )
Click Save to Disk (

During a download click Cancel or Pause to stop or pause the download respectively.
To open the file without saving select Browse.
In the Choose Helper Application window select the application for that file and click Open.

Click on the icon on the left inside the online

From the drop down menu select Add Engines
This will open a page where you will find a link Find lots of other search engines

Using only your own icons for your bookmarks on the Bookmark toolbar
Install the extension Favicon Picker
Restart Firefox
Open Bookmarks > Manage Bookmarks
In the Manage Bookmarks window open the Bookmark toolbar folder
Right clink on a bookmark
Select Properties
Delete everything in the name field ( if you desire type a dot here this is helpful while backing up the bookmark file )
Icon: field select browse
Find and select your icon
Click Open
Click OK

Updates of your favorite sites (RSS)
If this icon appears on the
lower right corner of firefox window while surfing
a site it means that you can recieve updates from
this site through RSS(Real Simple Syndicate)
If you frequent a site and want to recieve updates each time you go online then click on this icon and select Subscribe to 'Sitename RSS'
A bookmark will be added
Next time you go online, before going to your fav site check the live update(depending
on the speed of the conection it may take few secs to recieve the updates) by
opening Bookmarks >
RSS bookmark > Update Links
Choose what you want to see by clicking on one of the update links
