I was searching Flickr.com for some good pics when I had the idea of trying to find some good pics of the Cordoba Mosque of Spain.
This mosque was constructed some 12 centuries back.
What really made this mosque important to me was the fact that being a mosque it was not being
used by Muslims. In fact a part of the mosque was converted to a church.
That hurts me.
Quran tells us that we should respect the places of worship of people from other faiths, if
they are not being used against Islam. Even in countries that Muslims take over. Here is a mosque that is not
being allowed to be used for prayers. Its kind of a tourist attraction.
I think now that this building hosts both a mosque and a church it should be opened to both the Muslims and the Christians. I am not trying to bring the people of two faiths closer. I am just saying that the houses of God should be full of worshipers and not just tourists.
