Today my parents left for Saudia Arabia to perform Haj. We left for the airport at about 5 am. On the way one of my family members wanted me to break the signal. Two reasons were given for that. One, that since there were no cars in any direction I can break the law without any harm. Second, that since there is no one in sight, we might get robbed.
I didn't broke the signal only for one reason. If you don't care much about the little mstakes in life, it would be more easier for you to do big wrongs. One step leads to another.
I also didn't care much about the robbers for one reason. In quran Allah says that all the bad that comes your way, is the result of the sins you commited earlier. So if you dont commit sins you wont feel the pain.
After I came back home I got online. Here is a link to an article that tells us why is it important to say or write small sentences. I agree with most of the article. But one thing that I don't think is necessary is the counting of words. Just be as short as it is easily possible. Makes sense.
The next two news items made me think about what we might be missing.
A new kind of an animal has been discovered somewhere in Indonesia. It is bigger than a cat and has a long muscular tail. It has not been caught. So not much is known about it.
In a local news paper I read about a leader of Kung Fu monks. The art of Kung Fu is quite old and most of its glory is lost in the new tech age. The writer talks about how the heirs of this art have adapted to the current ways of life. Kung Fu is not what it used to be.
In quran Allah says that there are signs hidden in Its creations for those who are wise.
I have been thinking of getting a wrist watch. Hadn't bought one yet because didn't had enough money. So just like the Mp3 player, I wanted to decide what is it that I need. I had almost decided on a watch with a date. But then the above two items got me thinking.
Do I need a watch at all. In quran Allah says that I created sun and moon so that you could calculate time and the numbering of years. It also says that stars are used to find directions.
I do agree that maps and watches have made our lives easier. But wont you agree that at the same time it has stopped us from knowing the signs of the presence of God. I agree that watches and alarms are important but I don't think they are necessary all the time. I would prefer a clock with alarm in my house. But I don't want to carry a watch with me, for three reasons.
This will allow me to try to understand and master the art of reading time and date with the help of sun, moon and stars. Allah orders us to go see how It initiated creation.
Worrying too much about time in order to accomplish more, creates a feeling of urgency. This produces unwanted stress which is not good for our heath.
Also by being more in touch with nature, I might be able to unearth God Itself.
